Thirty-three Alberta municipalities, school boards and post-secondary institutions have received Smoke-Free Spaces recognition awards since 2018 for approving comprehensive smoke-free bylaws and policies in their communities, school districts and on their campuses.

The Smoke-Free Spaces program recognizes local governments and public bodies that have gone the extra mile to promote healthy, smoke-free indoor and outdoor spaces.

The Smoke-Free Spaces Committee consists of leadership from prominent health organizations that are committed to improving the quality of life by creating more smoke-free outdoor public spaces.
